Welcome to Ari Two n' Ahmee's 2023 Litter!
Born October 6, 2023!!!
Last Update;  Nov. 28, 2023
At 6:15 a.m. the first little man was born.  He's black with a bunch of white markings.  Has a thick white collar and about 1/2 of his tail is white.  All his legs are white and the left rear has white up on his hip.  Nice fat boy.
At 9:20 a.m. number two entered the world.  I was nervous cuz that took way too long but he's fine.  He's mostly black and may stay dark like his mama.  He was thinner and longer than his brother.  White chin and white left front foot.  He's got matching socks in the back and a touch of white on the tip of his tail.
Three sassy little boys!

At 9:45 a.m. number three.  This little precious didn't make it.  Another pinto baby who I think went to Rainbow's Bridge a while before birth.  I didn't check the sex.  So sad.
At 10:30 a.m. number four.  Another boy.  All black with white knee socks in the front and white toes in the back.  He's got half a collar on the left side and he too has a white tip on his tail.
At 12:15 p.m. number five. Another little angel.  She also went to Rainbow's Bridge.  I think it just took too long.  May be cuz momma' dog is getting too old for this.
Soooooo, we have three perfect little boys!!  Easy to care for, hard to give up when the time comes.  Too easy to get attached when there are few.

Babies are living in a make shift whelping spot in the living room right next to my office area.  They're blocked off with the puppy room door laying on it's side.  Years ago we replaced the full door with a half door so I could check on pups without having to go in and out.   Anyway, I've only got 3 Akitas now and I've always wanted them living in the house with me.  Well, Ari's mama, YoYo came into heat a couple days before the pups were born so, she's in the puppy room to keep her away from her son.  I didn't wanna' put her outside all by herself so I rigged up a place for the pups out here.  By the time the pups are up and cruisin' Yo should be done with her heat.  Then she can move back out here with Ari and the pups can go out into the puppy room.  Problem solved.

In another week or so I'll start them on Purina Puppy Chow slop.  I soak the Puppy Chow in water with a little powdered milk and then mash it with a potato masher to make sure it's lump/choke free.  I'll also de-worm them for the first time and every two weeks while they're here.

They can't hear or see yet.  Eyes will open in about a week or so.
Their ears are starting to flap over so they'll be able to hear in a couple days.  They already know kisses from gamma'.

Stop back in a day or two.  I'll try to put new pictures up every couple days.  Videos when they get older.  Pretty soon they'll start gaining 10 lbs. a month!  They don't stay little very long.
10/18/2023 Babies are 12 days old.  The following photos were taken over the course of the past three days and/or the last time I posted.  Meant to update sooner but all kinds of stuff interrupted.  Making doggie cookies right now.  I'll put the really easy ane cheap recipe on here for ya.

Okay, doggie cookies.  Since store bought treats are sooooooo expensive and we really don't know what's in um'.  I have absolutely no cooking or baking skills so...  2 pounds of BROWN rice.  Cook as directed.  In a HUGE bowl mix 6 eggs, couple tablespoons of honey and 2 1/2 - 3 pounds of chicken or beef liver.  Chicken is cheaper.  Put it in a blender and liquify it.  Flax seed flour to thicken after you've added the rice to the big bowl.  Just needs to be a consistency so you can spoon it on the cookie sheets.  Foil and vegetable spray the cookie sheets.  Plop any size you want on the sheets and bake for like 15 - 20 minutes.  Longer for larger cookies I would suppose.  The dogs won't care if they're over baked or under baked :)  Take them off the cookie sheets to cool.  I use those grocery store plastic bags and load um' up for the freezer.  They love them frozen or thawed.  Great for a cool snack in the summer.  Course you let somebody lick the bowl!  I get about 100 of um' for around $10.  Forgot, 400 - 425 degree oven.
Their eyes are starting to open.  They already crawl to the other side of their area to poo.  Perfect little babies!  We need to come up with some nicknames but for now, #2 seems to be the biggest now.  They all have very nice coats and they're growing like weeds.  #3 will travel away from the pile to nap sometimes.  Independent guy.

Pictures are kinda' boring when they're tiny.  Pretty soon they'll be running around and being all adorable.  The biting doesn't start until about 6 weeks of age.
  ^  #1 - He's got nice thick ears.
^  #1 - Still a little pink on his nose but that will turn black.

10/24/2023 Babies are 18 days old!  They are the first little monsters that don't wanna' have anything to do with their Puppy Chow slop.  I've tried for the last three days.  Usually it only takes a couple of nose dunks and they're into it.  Boys do usually take to it more slowly than their sisters.  Just want mama!

10/29/2023 Babies are three weeks and two days old.  We've been de-wormed once and we'll get it again every two weeks while we're still here.  Didn't see any worms but to be on the safe side...  We've also finally started eating puppy slop.  The hardest litter ever to get um' to eat.  Four days I tried to no avail.  They're chowin' now!!!  And, we've moved into the puppy room for a new adventure.  Course they complained a little at first.

They're turning into little people now.  Their tails are starting to curl up now too.  Curly is the biggest and Moe, first born, is the smallest but seems to be alpha.

11/07/2023 Babies are 4 1/2 weeks old today.  This Friday I'll de-worm them for the second time.  They all know the kissy noise and come runnin' for chow.  I started with a handful of Puppy Chow and we're up to five handfuls twice a day now.  Curly has to be pushin' 8 - 10 lbs. already.
They know gamma' now.  Chewing on me is fun!  Curly is the biggest and the most laid back.  I saw a burst of energy out of him today but soon after he was lazin' around again.

the first guy to start playing tug-o-war with my sweat pants.  He's for sure alpha and the most confident.  He's runnin' the show.

I THINK Moe will be movin' to Galesville but we're not sure yet.  I think Jon and Tracey will want the big lazy guy???  We'll see.
I've got Mom's water in the flat pan so nobody falls in a bucket and drowns.  The boys watch but want nothing to do with the water yet.
Next week I'll introduce the Purina Puppy Chow in it's hard form.  No more puppy slop.

It was 60 degrees outside today so I put a fan on low in the puppy room and opened the outside door so Mama could go out and lay in the nice weather.  I go to check on everybody and the boys were all laying in the hallway as far from the open outside door as they could get. First time I've seen them all in the hall!
Mom's already starting to stand while feeding.  Probably start putting her out during the day for a break.

Their beautiful white paws are getting huge and also gray from the newspaper.
<  There's Curly deferring to Moe even though Curly is probably a pound bigger.  I'll weigh um' tomorrow cuz I'm curious.  Little tanks!
Still one of the boys are available.  Not sure which one yet though.
11/20/2023 Babies are 6 1/2 weeks old today.  Sorry it's been a while but I've been taking pictures just about every day.  The computer and phone have been down and we got new flooring...  Busy, busy, busy.  The boys are getting sooooooooooo big.  We weighed them the other day and they're all right around 11 pounds now.

So, the big news, Ashley picked Moe.  #1 the pinto boy.
That means it's Tracy and Jon's turn to pick.  Going to be a tough decision.  Curly is still the most lax guy.
The boys are eating dry puppy chow now and drinking water.  Their mama still lets them nurse occasionally.

Sad to say but my boys will be ready to leave any time after Thanksgiving.  Still one boy available.  Not sure if it will be Shep or Curly.
11/28/2023 Babies are 7 1/2 weeks old.  Shep is the only one still here.  He's a really precious boy!!!  I've gotten some pictures of Moe at his new home but can't figure out how to get the photos from my phone to my computer.  Life's hard.  :)  Here's one of Curly, now Waldo, playing with his big sister Yoko/Kitty from the Beatles litter.  Yes, they named her Kitty.  Pretty funny.  Waldo is their 4th puppy from me.  And, I took like 14 pictures of Shep a little while ago and we got about 6 barely worth posting.  He's a busy guy and cooperation is NOT his middle name!
Yoko/Kitty and Curly/Waldo.
Shep playin' with a bone on the deck in the snow.
<  Fitting butt shot for the end of the first page.  Shows his nice healthy fat butt and hips.  They just won't hold still.  I remember in the old days of having to get film processed/developed...  I'd get home with the paper photos and have pictures of just deck boards.  Snapped a picture and puppy took off.  Deck boards.
